Cool Programs for Mac

Mac has an abundance of free programs and while the OS doesn’t have the variety Windows has, there are some pretty useful ones out there. These are just a few I use quite often…

	You Control Tunes This program allows you to control iTunes from the menubar - making it easier to switch songs and artists. If you don’t have the money for CoverSutra, this is the program for you;) Click here
	One Card Okay so Mac sucks at gaming. But if you just want a no brainer addictive LIGHTWEIGHT game, you can’t go past OneCard!!! Just like the popular Uno game but digitized. So addictive. Click here
	MacLit Unfortunately Mac doesn’t have many options when it comes to eBooks. If you have windows formatted ones(.lit) it’s even harder It took me AGES to find this program, but it’s well worth checking out. Basically it just opens .lit files for your easy reading:) Also includes a auto scroller! The only thing I’ve found with this program is it takes a while to load and open files(be patient!), and also sometimes quotation marks don’t translate. But it’s free and it works so can’t complain there. Click here
	Mac Desktop Generator You need a LastFM account to use this, but it’s pretty cool in generating wallpapers from your top 50 album covers. So easy to use! Click here
	Linotype Font Explorer If you’re like me and love fonts and use mac, it can be really hard to see the fonts you’ve recently imported and deleted. Also, I’ve had this problem once where a font you install overrides a default one so fonts in your browsers look all funny and unreadable(once I had a bubble font override one…not a pretty sight). So anyway this program makes things a lot easier in navigating your way through your font collection. A but buggy but it works most of the time. Click here
	iSquint A lightweight video converter for Mac. I guess it’s the Videora equivalent Click here
	img2icns A lightweight program which allows you to convert your pictures into Mac icons. Don’t download the 1.1G Xcode package for the crappy Icon Composer(which sucks btw)!! Just download this program and you’re set. Click here
	Jing This program allows your to capture Image and Video on your screen. It also lets you edit the images you capture in one hit so you don’t have to open a second program to add in text, arrows or whatever else. Click here
