UPDATATION!And..VFEST!!!

Firstly - I *think* I’ve fixed the slow wordpress loading problem. I just turned off Wassup the plugin after googling the problem and wow - the page loads almost instantly. Please tell me if you still have the slow loading problem!!!

Anyway onto other news. That is = VFESTIVAL 2008!!!!!!!!!!BEST. FESTIVAL. OF. THE. YEAR. Honest to god. It was really that stupendously FUNTASTIC. I can’t even tell you how much fun it was…except for the fact that the venue was absolutely mud filled and my white shoes are now incomprehensibly BLACK. Anyway so me and Simone got there round 1.30 after I spent the whole of Sunday morning filming carparks and people, and it was still pretty emptyish when we got there. We immediately went to the V tent they had up and we got all this free stuff….CD’s and booklets and a bag and this inflatable drinks holder thing. Oh and we got so many iTunes cards. I gotta say this festival was extremely well organised. Though I don’t understand how it could be environmentally friendly…they kept going on about how the concert would be green but I saw a load of plastic and paper going to waste(they had loads of inflatable drinks cup holders and bubble chairs and inflatable sony ericsson phones for a promotion) and I’d hate to see what happened to all that plastic afterwards.

Anyway after we got all our free shit we walked around for a bit and explored the venue which isn’t reallly that big but its a good size. Simone got a QOTSA shirt but I decided I didnt think the design would suit me so I saved my money. For cocktails. Haha. Ok well first of all we saw Hot Hot Heat which was on after Simone got her shirt - and they are surpprisingly really good - if not a bit emo. You shoulda seen the tight black jeans they were wearing! Tight jeans just don’t look good on guys…..it’s the truth.

After that we waited for Cut Copy which were ok - I liked the beat but the singers voice kinda annoyed me. So we went and walked around a bit more and went over to the VIP tent where we got 3D glasses and went it. It woulda been cool if we had been in a bigger group and if more people danced and stuff coz they had a DJ but yeah we went out after that xD Thenn we went over to the beach volleyball place and got a cocktail. I got the Apple one and it was pretty nice but really strong. You cna’t taste it though coz they put in a lot of juice too. Anyway we had that and got another after…this time I got the Disco Juice which was stronger and had a weird blend of drinks, but tasted SO NICE. I want to learn to make cocktails now! So that was 24 bucks well spent

After that we went and saw Jesus and Mary Chain which were actually really good. I’m totally gunna get their album now haha. And then it was Modest mouse who I don’t think I could ever get into…then it was freaking QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. They came on late but HEY. The mosh was fun too…like there were no little kids and no topless sweaty guys so it was all good. It did get a bit rough but it was mostly really fun. I LOVE the intro to Sick Sick Sick! And they played no one knows last…which EVERYONE knows so everyone was just singing along. He was kinda funny too…coz everyone was holding their hands up doing that stupid rock fist thing with their hand…and Josh stares at us like a stoner for about a minute then licks his hand and slowly puts his fist up in that rock pose and everyones like YEAHHHH!!! It was hilarious

The sound engineers need to be shot though. They were sleeping on the job or something coz you could hardly hear Josh. he was even motioning to them to turn the mic up but it hardly made any difference. So yeah that was my only complaint. Other than that it was the best performance for me of the day.

Duran Duran was next and we watched them for a bit. You can’t help but bop along to their songs…theyre just so pop/rockish! Theyre pretty cool. Anyway this was when my phone died so I went to recharge it(THANKS VIRGIN xD) and we went to get more free stuff. Then we went to wait for the Smashin Pumpkins..who opened with tonight tonight(basically the only song I recognize from their set XD) But it was pretty cool. I heard they were really boring but they sounded ok…the sound sounded a bit messed up from where I was though.

Oh yeah and this was when this guy next to me started hitting on me…like…really seriously. It was kind of weird actually because I don’t look to get picked up at concerts or ANYTHING. So we were waching the stage and they finish and since we’re standing in the middle-ish we can hardly see coz we’re so short. And the guy - I think his name was Clay, was like Can you see? You want a piggyback? And I was like Wha-? Are you kiddin me? No..thanks anyway xD And I thought that he was just being nice - you know. But a few minutes later he was like You a fan of the smashing pumpkins? And I’m like so-so….so we continue talking/shouting for a bit into each other’s ear while the music’s playing just about QOTSA(apparently he went for them too and seemed like he had a cool taste in music He was also saying stuff about eagles of death metal and kyuss but I couldn’t quite catch it) then about 15 minutes later he’s like so…are you single? And I’m completely taken aback because - I NEVER look for guys at concerts or nightclubs for that matter so I was kinda put on the spot…and I was trying to figure out if he was some rapist or serial killer - he wasn’t drunk but he did give me some stoner vibes xD Simone insisted there was nothing wrong with him though.

ANYWAY. I was like Um…yeah…ok…later? I’ll watch the show first…and I KNOW that sounds completely lame but it was all I could think of at that time!!! But he was like Ok cool

Then he suggests going to see the presets and im like ok…so I get simone and we make our long way out and by the time we get out he’s gone. He was following us but I think I kinda gave him this weird look which probably made him rethink his decision…. So if I ever see him again he’ll have to know how sorry I am for being a complete bitch and ditching him! But yeah that was basically our day. Simone found it pretty funny. We saw a bit of the presets and left coz we were TIRED and we both had to wake up early monday…and we weren’t really into pumpkins or the presets.

And now…its the end of Monday - and I have netball in 1 and a half hours. GREAT. I’m so buggered right now. I had to get up early today to hand in the camera and shoot random carparks…we’re doing our STudent News projects at the moment where we have to do a 3 minute video presentation on a topic chosen for us. Ours was parking at UWA - probably the EASIEST topic you could do. So we better do good! Anyway we’re interviewing that Unipark guy tomorrow - i’ll be weird but hopefully itll only take like ten minutes. And we’re interviewing Tauel - haha. Should be funny. He seems pretty cool though. And we have until Thursday to edit and stuff…so tomorrow will be a VERY busy day of filming!

I have no idea what other groups are doing though…one had to do the proposed Northbridge andPerth link and the Perth foreshore redevelopment…they’d be hard. But yeah.

Right now I have so much things to do I don’t even know where to start. I should be doing work right now but I’m blogging and I really just can’t be bothered. Its been a long weekend! And I’m still pumped from QOTSA. God I love that band! I have to watch Open Your Eyes - it seems like a pretty cool film. It’s the original of Vanilla Sky…which I haven’t seen yet. Well yeah it’s for english…and I have to read a whole book by next week and3 weeks worth of readings and start two research essays…thank god there’s a study break soon.

Anyway I realize this is an incredibly long blog but I just had to get all this stuff off my chest I really need to do stuff now. After I watch Final fantasy The animation is so awesome!
